Following the success higher-end siblings the 950 & 950XL Microsoft’s latest phone, the Lumia 550 is aimed at buyers looking for an affordable smartphone running the latest Windows 10 operating system.
At £89.99 Sim free the Microsoft Lumia 550 is currently the most affordable windows 10 smart phone available. Featuring a Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (1.1GHz), 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage that can be upgraded to a whopping 200GB with a MicroSD Card makes this latest offering from Microsoft a well-rounded budget smartphone. The Microsoft Lumia 550 Packs an adequate 4.7 inch HD screen at 315 Pixels Per Inch which should be more than enough for a casual user along with the 5MP main camera and 2MP selfie snapper. Needless to say these won’t be replacing your digital camera any time soon but are more than adequate at this price point.
Unfortunately the Lumia 550 does lack some of the new windows 10 features found on its higher end, more expensive siblings the 950 & 950XL namely, Continuum this means you will be unable to use Microsoft's Display Dock to run the phone as a PC when connected to a large display. And security in the form of Microsoft's beta biometric authentication feature found on the higher end devices are also missing on this entry level device.
